Naden - Something

That pass or two turned into an hour and a half at Naden with no bites, yet all four of us on board were optimistic that something was going to happen. Finally, around 9:30am, the screaming sound from our back rod interrupted a peaceful morning on the water. My guest, Dave R grabbed the rod, with no hook set needed, as the fish already had the Islander reel sizzling. We immediately cleared our other two rods, as we knew we were in for a battle! After a long first run that seemed like it may not end, Dave was finally able to slowly work the fish to the boat for our first look. At that point it was pretty clear we had a Tyee on the line and off it went for another powerful run. After a lengthy tug-o-war with this large specimen, we were finally able to put it in the bag! After some high fives and a few loud cheers, we brought the fish into the boat for a measurement and a few quick photos. This fish was then released to continue its migratory journey to its home river. This big silver beauty taped out to 46 pounds! Congrats Dave! Thanks for choosing to let it go!

The first tip is to break down your Spring-cleaning chores into more manageable chunks. Set the timer on your phone for 15 minutes and then tackle some simple tasks like dusting open surfaces and ceiling fans, door frames and switch plates, or baseboards. This can help you feel like you are accomplishing something without spending a ton of time. Using microfiber cloths and mops can help you pick up dust in a flash.

As music producers, we each develop our own set of processes when it comes to creating what we create. We might have developed something unique in terms of workflow, an alternative approach to sound design, or ways to keep the inspiration flowing constantly.

"When they walk through steps and see that shapes basically develop into forms, texture, elements within systems to create an image...portraiture, abstract art, they feel like they've accomplished something."

I taught three astro-landscape photo workshops with a guru of night sky photography, Rick Whitacre. This photography has a new set of challenges for me- physical, craft, and technical. But the reward is that shooting at night can make an otherwise overlooked location into something new and exciting!

There's something immediately familiar about the songs of the God Damn Doo-Wop Band. While the music says 1955 sock hop, the lyrics tell modern-day stories of longing, broken hearts, and loveable lugs on the wrong side of the law.

A product of boredom and a suggestion by my close friend, Nur Azlina. This was done out of knowing I had to put something out there soon enough or else my friends would have started calling for my head.

A few minutes into the second half, a name was picked out of the box. It was a magical moment for all of us. The name drawn was one of the sailors who had returned from deployment only days before. It was something right out of a Hallmark movie script.
